Cornea and external disease
Cornea and external disease is a part of external medicine. The cornea and external disease refers to issues like recurrent corneal erosion, conjunctivitis, and other external diseases that can occur around the eye. With cornea and external disease the doctor will have to determine what is causing the disease before they can treat it. Sometimes cornea and external disease is related to improper care of the eye.

Individuals who wear contacts can get cornea and external disease around the eye. The contacts if not cleaned will bring foreign matter into the eye which can then infect it. Protein build up is one cause of eye disease with those who wear contacts. Patients who leave their contacts in for a week are more prone to eye disease.
