Neuroradiology is a branch of medicine focusing on diagnosing central nervous system and peripheral nervous system problems with radiology. Those who work in neuroradiology will use either a computer tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in order to diagnose the problem. Both pieces of equipment in neuroradiology provide an image of the body. It allows the doctors to discover what could be causing the disease of the nervous system.
Radiology residences are generally given four months to learn neuroradiology in order to get their board certification. Neuroradiology fellowships last for one to two years before the person is qualified. Those in neuroradiology can also spend a few more years training in interventional neuroradiology. In this way they get to be more invasive in their diagnoses.
