Diabetes results when there is an improper amount of insulin being produced in the body. Usually the body will not produce enough insulin for those who suffer from diabetes. Glucose will then accumulate in the blood, which leads to other medical complications. Diabetes needs to be managed on a daily basis to avoid issues.
There are two common types of diabetes. They are Type 1 and Type 2. Type 2 is when there is an insulin resistance. Basically the cells fail to use the insulin properly. Type 1 is when the body will fail to produce the insulin needed. Many Americans are diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes as a result of obesity. About 5 to 10 percent of Americans have Type 1 diabetes and need insulin injections.
