A criminal lawyer works in two ways. The criminal lawyer can be on a case that involves murder or they may be part of the civil law proceedings. In fact a criminal lawyer can help with both cases if they wish. First though, the criminal lawyer will try to win the case in the criminal courts to see the person prosecuted for the crime or they can be on the defendant’s team. Once the case has been seen in the criminal courts the criminal lawyer may decide to follow through on the civil suit a family or others may instigate.

The criminal lawyer does not always have to work on the civil case and can leave that to a civil lawyer. Basically it is the job of the criminal lawyer to seek justice in a criminal court.
